A summary and recap from the 3rd day of the workshop is given below:
- Development of data assimilation for isotopes:
- Not only for present-day, but also for paleo-climate applications: e.g. last 2k, time slices.
- Proxy-system modelling:
- opportunity for model-data comparison and data assimilation for paleo
- Modelling advances:
- Recent development of isotope-enabled earth system models,
- Emergence of long, transient, coupled model simulations,
- Prospect: isotopes in a global CRM!
- Call for SWING3!
- Would be broader than SWING2, with possibly LES/CRM, paleo-climate simulations.
- Research on basic fractionation processes is still ongoing!
- e.g. kinetic fractionation during evaporation at the ocean surface
- Snow surface fractionation processes, need to consider multi-layers
- Impact of ice microphysics and surface snow sublimation on dexcess?
